Here goes another article for people who are addicted too much for counter strike, people whose oxygen is counter strike. This time, we need to know how to play counter strike on both wireless lan(WLAN) and Local Area Network(LAN) at same time in Microsoft Windows for versions xp, vista and windows 8.
Here is a easy three steps process to play counter strike on LAN and WLAN at same time. You can follow similar steps to play other lan games on Lan and Wlan at same time.
Requirements to play counter strike on LAN and WLAN at same time
1. 2 Laptops – Let’s name them laptop A(Running counter strike server) and laptop B
2. 1 Desktop – Let’s name it desktop C
3. WLAN Launcher – Download Link (38 KB)
I’m here considering a scenario, in which we are running counter strike server on laptop A and we need to connect laptop B and desktop C to Laptop A for playing counter strike 1.6
We also need a 38 KB software, WLAN Launcher to setup a wireless network. If you don’t have WLAN Launcher, download it.
3 Steps to play counter strike on LAN and WLAN at same time
Step 1: Setting up a wireless network
Set up a wireless network with WLAN Launcher, if you don’t know how to use WLAN Launcher, please read my another article How to play LAN games on Wifi. It is quite easy to set up a wireless network to play LAN games.
Only create Wireless network in laptop A, as we are running counter strike server in laptop A.
Note down the wireless network IP Address, it generally is 192.168.137.1
After, achieving complete success in step 1, move to step 2.
Step 2: Connecting Desktop PC to Laptop
Now, we are on step 2, it means we have established a wireless network with WLAN Launcher and counter strike is running on Laptop A and we are able to play counter strike in both Laptops A & B at same time.
Now, our problem is to connect desktop C only.
Connect desktop C to any of the laptop A or laptop B though a Ethernet cable, means on Local Area Network(LAN)
Let’s consider that we have connected desktop C to laptop A
Step 3: IP Address configuration
Sometimes, we need to restart both computers which are on LAN to configure new changes for LAN.
Now, we need to do IP Address configuration only to ethernet adaptors of both desktop C and laptop A.
Step 3.1: IP Address configuration in desktop C
Now, go to Control Panel, open Network and Sharing Centre and open ethernet adaptor settings. Now open IPv4 settings.
Here, we only need to change two things, IP Address and Subnet Mask. Put new IP address as 192.168.137.X here X may be any number, between 2-10, different than our wireless network IP address. You can generally put IP Address as 192.168.137.4
And subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0
Click ok and close all windows.
Step 3.2: IP Address configuration in laptop A
Follow, same steps of step 3.1 to configure IP address of laptop A
Now, put new IP address one less than IP address of desktop C, for example, if desktop c has IP address as 192.168.137.4 then, IP address for laptop A will be 192.168.137.3.
No change in subnet mask, click ok and close all windows.
No need to change any IP address in Laptop C. Laptop C will connect wireless and it will obtain its IP address automatically.
Now, IP configuration has been completed for all computers, all PCs are now ready to play counter strike on LAN and WLAN at same time.
If you need to add more desktops, then just simply assign next IP Address to them.
If still, you face problems, your comments are welcome. 😉
